WS1300 Firmware Development BLE · Flash · Configure · Diagnose
WS1300 firmware development, BLE flashing and diagnostics interface

Develop, flash and diagnose over BLE.

WS1300 firmware can be developed and flashed over Bluetooth LE, while the same tool exposes configuration, live telemetry and device diagnostics. The short code-test-observe loop makes AI-assisted firmware development practical without repeatedly opening the enclosure or moving the station back to a bench.

Deployment scenarios

Built for Places Where Internet Fails

D2 Mesh solves the two hardest problems in remote weather: long-range low-power telemetry and giving permanent mesh sites a useful, continuous physical job.

Multi-hop LoRa Mesh Ridge Repeater Topology
01

Remote Ridgelines & Multi-Hop Mesh

A WS1300 on a ridge or forest edge broadcasts continuous wind, rain, and pressure. Packet hops across intermediate solar repeaters to reach town nodes kilometers away with zero cellular coverage.

WS1300 on Ridge → Solar Repeater → Town Mesh Gateway → Mobile Client
Agricultural Microclimate Farm Link
02

Private Acreage & Farm Microclimates

For vineyards, orchards, and ranches beyond cellular reach. Monitor frost warnings and soil moisture conditions. Station transmits over direct LoRa to the homestead console with 100% data sovereignty.

Field WS1300 → Direct Sub-GHz RF → WG1200 Console → Irrigation Controller
Wind Sports Coastal & Ridge Telemetry
03

Wind-Sports, Marinas & Ridge Launches

Paragliding clubs, sailing schools, and kitesurfing spots avoid ongoing cellular SIM subscription fees. D2 Mesh broadcasts live 2-second wind gusts directly to pilots at the takeoff and landing zones.

Takeoff Mast → LoRa Beacon → Handheld Meshtastic Radios & Landing Display
Home Assistant & Local REST API Dashboard
04

Self-Hosting & Home Assistant

Automate smart home HVAC, storm shutters, and irrigation natively via local MQTT broker (Port 1883) and REST endpoints without trusting external vendor clouds or risking internet downtime.

WG1200 Wi-Fi Bridge → Local MQTT Broker → Home Assistant Auto-Discovery

Hall-Effect Wind Vane

Wind direction is measured using magnetic Hall-effect solid-state sensors with zero wiper contacts to corrode, drift, or wear down in dusty and maritime environments.

DEDICATED CO-PROCESSOR

Zero-Loss Pulse Counting

A dedicated ultra-low-power sensor co-processor handles wind cup revolutions and rain bucket tips continuously, allowing the main dual-core MCU to sleep between transmissions without missing a single tip.

FIELD SERVICEABLE

Swappable sensor module

The temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors reside on a user-replaceable module inside the radiation shield, allowing quick sensor replacement after years in the field without replacing the station body.

Power engineering

Solar-Assisted with Ground-Level Servicing

Engineered to maintain uptime through harsh winter freezes and multi-week low-light periods.

Multi-Tier Power Architecture

  • 1. Integrated Solar Harvesting: Built-in 6.5V / 60mA monocrystalline solar panel powers daytime measurements and buffers internal capacitance.
  • 2. Supercapacitor RF Buffer: Absorbs high-current LoRa transmit pulses, preventing voltage sag on battery banks during transmission.
  • 3. 2.4V Low-Dropout Boost Converter: Runs the entire station down to 2.4V input voltage, extracting maximum usable energy from nearly exhausted cells.
  • 4. Adaptive Transmission Cadence: Transmission interval automatically scales back if battery voltage drops during extended cloudy spells, guaranteeing zero system blackouts.

Remote 6×AA Battery Case with Maintenance Interface

Mount the station high on a mast where wind and sunlight are optimal, while mounting the IPX6 battery enclosure at chest height on the pole.

Hard Power Reset

Full ground-level power cycle button without unmounting from the mast.

Capacitor Discharge

Drains all supercapacitors to 0V for a guaranteed cold boot troubleshooting cycle.

Ground-Level Servicing 2m IPX6 CABLE
WS1300 Station with Remote Battery Holder on 2m Cable and Ground Reset

Install High, Service from the Ground: The outdoor array mounts high on the mast for undisturbed wind measurements, while the battery casing mounts at shoulder height.

Cable Length: 2.0 meters (IPX6 waterproof)
Battery Bank: 6× AA (or 2× AA internal)
Operating Limits: −40 °C to +60 °C (Lithium)

Mesh Architecture & Airtime

Responsible Mesh Citizenship

A commercial device broadcasting on shared public sub-GHz channels must be quiet and respectful of channel capacity.

TOPOLOGY A · PRIVATE LOCAL LINK

Direct Station-to-Console Link

The outdoor station transmits low-power WeatherXM packets directly to the indoor WG1200 console, which bridges data to your local Wi-Fi and Home Assistant.

[WS1300 Station] ── (Direct LoRa) ──> [WG1200 Console] ── (LAN REST/MQTT)
TOPOLOGY B · COMMUNITY MULTI-HOP MESH

Multi-Hop Meshtastic Broadcast

The station broadcasts standard Environment Telemetry onto the public LongFast channel, hopping across community repeaters to reach mobile clients kilometers away.

[WS1300] ──> [Solar Repeater] ──> [Community Mesh Node] ──> [Mobile App]

Channel Airtime & Transmission Budget

< 0.2% TOTAL DUTY CYCLE
Packet Type Contents Default Cadence Payload Size Airtime Channel Duty Cycle
Environment Telemetry Temp, RH, Baro, Wind, Rain, Solar, UV Every 10–30 min ~42 bytes ~280 ms < 0.05 %

The node advertises is_unmessagable, registering as a dedicated read-only sensor to stay out of chat routing tables. Transmissions use randomized 1–5s jitter and configurable hop limits (default hop_limit 1–2).

Unified Firmware Architecture

One Firmware. Three Operating Protocols.

Every D2 Mesh station ships with a single unified firmware image capable of operating in three distinct wireless protocol modes, switchable on-the-fly over Bluetooth LE or LoRa commands without reflashing.

MODE 01

Native WeatherXM Protocol

Ultra-low power, high-cadence local telemetry designed for maximum station battery longevity and direct cryptographic communication with the WG1200 touchscreen console.

✓ Lowest power duty cycle
✓ Fast local updates
MODE 02

Meshtastic sensor node

Broadcasts standard Environment Telemetry onto the public LongFast mesh channel encrypted with the default public key. Unmodified T-Beam, Heltec, and RAK nodes see it automatically.

✓ Standard LongFast channel
✓ No gateway required
MODE 03

MeshCore Sensor Node

Lightweight open-packet datagram protocol tracking the open meshcore-dev/MeshCore core stack for advanced telemetry routers and research platforms.

✓ MIT-compatible core
✓ CLI & Datagram oriented

Three Ways to Configure · Zero Cloud in the Loop

1. Direct USB Serial: Interactive shell interface on the workbench.
2. Bluetooth Low Energy: Encrypted paired CLI shell from your phone or laptop.
3. Over LoRa Downlink: Authenticated downlink commands from the console for stations already mounted up a mast.
